Welcome to Thailand!
Welcome to Bangkok, the start of our TruTravels 10 year birthday adventure, and the place where it all started. Feel free to arrive any time today (or earlier if you like), check in, chill out and meet the rest of the legends you will be travelling with. The first day we have plenty of time to settle in and get sorted, then in the evening we’ll head for dinner, drinks and check out our old stomping ground…. the world famous Khao San Road. Many of us on the trip have spent way too much time on this street over the years so we should be able to show you those who haven’t a pretty good time.
Exploring Bangkok’s Grand Palace & Sky Tower
Today we’ll get in a bit of history and culture at the Grand Palace. Spectacular views of white and gold architecture that has been the official residence of the Kings of Siam since 1782. The king, his court and royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925, so we’ll have a wander round, snap some pics, get some history and explore the beautiful grounds. After all that grandness we’ll have a few hours to chill before we head back and get ready to see central Bangkok at night. We’ll hit some of Bangkok's most stunning rooftop bars with panoramic views overlooking the city. Just think Hangover part 2. Only Joking. Or are we?
Let’s head to the Islands & Khao Sok National Park
After seeing the very best of Bangkok we catch a short flight down to Surathani airport before catching a bus ride and a boat over to one of the most magical places we have ever been… Khao Sok National Park, where we’ll be staying in floating bungalows on a crystal clear lake, surrounded by emerald green limestone mountains and jungle. Sounds terrible doesn’t it? Once we have chucked our bags in our floating bungalows and had a bit of lunch, then we might as well crack a beer and hop in the lake, take a rubber ring or a kayak and relax to the maximum watching the sun go down in paradise… Khao Sok National Park is a bucket list ticking experience in itself and has been a TruTravellers favourite since the very start. And there's a good reason for that, trust us, descriptions and photos can never do it justice.
A Railay good time sunset kayaking!
It’s worth waking up early today to witness the views from your bedroom door (so you won’t have to go far), tranquil water, clouds over the surrounding mountain tops and maybe even some monkeys or elephants in the background if you’re really lucky. After a lake-front breakfast we bid farewell to the jaw dropping, Jurassic park-like, Khao Sok and head to our next destination Krabi, which despite the slightly off putting name, is actually ok.But as we don’t do average, or ok for that matter, we will be heading straight to Railay Beach (which is a railay, railay good), to check into our next flashpacker hotel. A beautiful resort with an infinity pool surrounded by limestone mountains. Freshen up, explore the town or chill in the pool before a spot of sunset kayaking from Railays main beach around the surrounding limestone rock formations and islands.. GoPros at the ready, as we kayak into the hidden gem of Phra Nang Cave. As the sun goes down, we paddle back to the beach where the cocktails are calling our name. Hey, we’ve worked up a sweat. It’s only right we have a daiquiri or 5 followed by a fire show and some light evening entertainment.
Cooking classes, rock climbing and viewpoints!
Rise and shine! We take a hike up to one of Thailand’s most beautiful viewpoints. The views are breathtaking, the hike, maybe a little breathtaking too.. But so worth it when you get to the top! Insta worthy shots for sure. In the afternoon you have the option to take part in a 3-course traditional Thai cooking class, yep we’ve got the pro’s teaching you to be a pro. Or if you don’t fancy yourself as a world-renowned chef you can spend the day rock climbing. Climb the limestone cliffs and see the stunning sea from up high! In the evening we hit up the best beach bars for a well needed and deserved drink. Boujee cocktails only, please.
Viewpoint hike, rock climbing or Thai cooking class
Phi Phi viewpoints & fire show!
Next stop Phi Phi island! Golden sandy beaches, pristine blue waters. It’s heaven. We catch the boat across and once arriving the afternoon is yours to do as you please. There’s no better place to watch the sun go down than the famous Phi Phi viewpoint.. As a result of so many backpackers and tourists coming here to see “The Beach”, Phi Phi’s nightlife is now pretty POPPIN. So if you fancy partying your flip flops off, or watching an insane fire show on the beach, well we’re with you every step on the way.
The Beach - Boat Trip!
Take the morning to unwind before we jump on another boat to explore around Phi Phi Islands. And yes, one of the places we hope to visit is Maya Bay, the place where The Beach (you know, that old film with Leo in it) was filmed. We’ll sail the turquoise blue waters, speed through the emerald green scenic views, hit up Monkey Island, (no really, there’s monkey’s there) Viking Cave and Pileh Lagoon. All as different and tru-ly spectacular as the next. Like we said we don’t do average, we do bucket list ticking, mind-blowingly awesome. Enjoy some snorkelling and swimming before having some delicious lunch onboard. We watch the sun go down and head out and show you the very best cocktails bars, fire shows and beachfront dancing spots in all of Phi Phi (again).
Hello Koh Phangan!
Goodbye Phi Phi, Hello Koh Phangan! Today is a day to recuperate as we say goodbye to the idyllic island of Phi Phi and head towards magical Koh Phangan. TruTravels HQ in Thailand! We’ll travel by minibus and boat so time to catch some zzzz’s before we head out out and show you what the Tru Koh Phangan experience is all about and the reason so many of the TruCrew live here, Some say the full moon party is the most legendary party in all of Koh Phangan but they haven’t experienced the rest of the parties the island has to offer! Shit shirts and cocktails at the ready!
Exploring Koh Phangan
It’s a lazy morning after a BIGGG night out in Koh Phangan. Today we’ll be exploring the island by jeep! We set off for the day stopping at incredible viewpoint bars and pristine beaches. Koh Phangan is home to some jaw-dropping scenery and loads of cool shit, so we show you round like the locals we are! In the evening we head to a personal Tru favourite bar to watch the sun go down on our last full day together. The night is ours to spend as we please but as it’s our last night on tour, go big or go home right?
