THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

Indonesia is a tropical paradise with two main seasons. Dry season (May-September) is perfect weather for beaches, hiking, diving, and exploring cultural sites. In the rainy season (October-April), quick, heavy showers are common, but landscapes are lush and green.

FLIGHT & TRANSPORT

Getting around Indonesia is easy and affordable. In Bali it is a great idea to download the apps Gojek or Grab to get around and book taxis. On our tours all transport is sorted for you so you won't need to stress about getting from A to B!

CUISINE & FOOD

You are in for a treat! The top things we'd recommend are Nasi Goreng, Nasi Campur and Ayam Betutu. If you are looking for a real authentic meal then head to a Warung over a more westernised resturant. You HAVE to try a Bintang Radler too - they are the best!

VISA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry requirements vary depending on nationality and also on how long you are planning to travel. It is always best to check with your government's website for the paperwork you will need to enter. Remember to always look at this well before you plan to travel too!

FAQS

When is the best time to travel to Indonesia?

Indonesia is a tropical paradise with two main seasons:

Dry season (May-September): perfect weather for beaches, hiking, diving, and exploring cultural sites.

Rainy season (October-April): quick, heavy showers are common, but landscapes are lush and green. May through September is often considered the best overall travel window.

Is Indonesia expensive to visit?

Your bank account is safe in Indonesia, don't worry! Indonesia is a very affordable place to visit! Your day-to-day costs can be super low if you choose local eats, guesthouses, and public transport, while mid-range or luxury options are still competitively priced compared with many destinations.

How much time should I spend in Indonesia?

We recommend at least 10-14 days to get a real taste of Indonesia, but it depends on what you want to see and what your travel style is like. Around 14 days gives you time for the islands, the small villages, beaches and even a boat trip too!

Do I need a visa to visit Indonesia?

Yes, most visitors need a visa. You can often get a Visa on Arrival (VOA) valid for 30 days at major entry points, or apply for an e-Visa online before you travel, the online option can save time at busy airports

What vaccinations are required for Indonesia?

There are no mandatory vaccinations for most travellers, but commonly recommended ones include Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, and Tetanus. We always recommend speaking to your local doctors. We're not medically trained, so we can't give official advice on vaccines you need/don't need.

Are there ATMs in Indonesia?

Yes, ATMs are widely available in cities and tourist hubs, and they usually accept Visa and Mastercard. In more remote areas, you might need to plan with cash, and it’s safest to use ATMs located inside banks, malls, or busy shops.

Is Indonesia LGBTQ+-friendly?

Attitudes vary across Indonesia. In many major cities and tourist destinations like Bali you’ll find welcoming and open-minded attitudes, but be aware that conservative norms apply in parts of the country. Always respect local culture and laws.

What languages are spoken in Indonesia?

Bahasa Indonesia is the official language. English is widely spoken in major tourist areas, hotels, restaurants, and by many guides.

Can you drink tap water in Indonesia?

No, don’t drink tap water anywhere in Indonesia. Always stick to bottled or properly filtered water.

Is Indonesia safe?

Indonesia is safe for travellers, but like anywhere in the world, make sure to use common sense: protect your valuables and watch out for petty scams.
