Itinerary
welcome to costa rica!
Touch down in San Jose! Settle in, check out the city or just sit back and relax. Get ready for the most epic 10 days of your life. We’ll meet as a group, head out for a welcome dinner and get to know each other better. Guaro Sour anyone?
local homestay
This morning, we’re heading to Coop San Juan. Here we will experience life just as the locals do in this rural Costa Rican village. When we arrive, we'll get to know the families we will be staying with for the night. Once we have explored the farm and worked up an appetite, we'll be lucky enough to see a cooking demonstration from the families. Costa Rican food is 10/10. We'll also make the most of the countryside and head out on a tractor ride, cameras at the ready! As the sun goes down, we'll get competitive with a game of football and enjoy some beers around the bonfire after dinner too!
arenal volcano hike & hot springs
Ready for an adventure? Next up is La Fortuna, aka the "adventure capital" of Costa Rica! Once we arrive at our accommodation, we'll head for lunch to fuel up for a BIG afternoon. We're heading for a hike around the base of the Arenal Volcano, and the views are stunning! After we have taken all the photos and got our steps in, we'll end the hike at some natural hot springs! Epic right? To finish off the day, we'll head for a group dinner and reminisce about our perfect first day in La Fortuna!
el salto swimming hole
Today is all about exploring La Fortuna in your own way! Your Tru Leader will have loads of options for today, so whether you are looking for a more chilled-out day or you want another adventure-packed day, they've got you sorted! In the afternoon, we'll visit a local swimming hole called El Salto before heading back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner and drinks.
monteverde and night safari
We're heading to Monteverde, and it is one of the most scenic journeys you will ever take! Once we arrive in Monteverde, we'll have time to check in and explore the local area. In the later part of the afternoon, we'll head out on an evening walking tour to see the nocturnal wildlife the area has to offer. The diversity of wildlife in Costa Rica is unmatched! Sloths, armadillos, vipers, colourful tree frogs and exotic birds are a few of the animals you might be lucky enough to come across, the perfect way to spend an evening in Monteverde!
zipline time!
Always dreamt about flying high above the famous cloud forest? Well, today we are doing just that! Costa Rica's cloud forests are a must-visit, and ziplining is the best way to immerse ourselves in the magic. Fun fact, this is where ziplining was invented, so it's only right we travel through the canopies in style, right? After our incredible morning, we'll have a free afternoon to explore more of Monteverde before meeting for dinner!
manuel antonio exploring
Goodbye mountains, hello beaches! We're trading misty clouds for sandy shores as we head down to Manuel Antonio. Once we arrive, the rest of the day is yours to play with. Kick back on some of Costa Rica's most gorgeous beaches, swim in the Pacific, explore the laid-back town vibes and more!
manuel antonio guided tour
Time to explore Manuel Antonio National Park! Your Tru leader will lead us through rainforest trails where we'll get to see some amazing wildlife! After getting our jungle fix, we'll head back to the beach to soak in some more vitamin D! Best of both worlds, right there!
heading back to san jose
All good things must come to an end, but not before one final celebration! We're heading back to San Jose after 9 incredible days. Tonight we gather for our farewell dinner. Get ready for laughs, stories, and toasts to new friends and unforgettable memories. Here's to the sloths, the sunsets, and the adventure of a lifetime in Costa Rica!

Great news, most travellers don’t need a visa to visit Costa Rica! Travellers from the UK, Canada, the EU, Australasia, New Zealand and the US get 180 days upon arrival. You will need proof of onward travel. Visa requirements often change, and it is always worth checking your local government website for the most up-to-date information.

We always recommend speaking to your local doctors, we're not medically trained so cannot give official advice on the vaccines you need/don't need.
What’s the weather like in Costa Rica?
There are two main seasons to be aware of in Belize! December to April is the dry season, and you can expect sunny days with temperatures from highs of 28°C to lows of 22°C and little rain. The wet season runs from May to November, and this brings hotter and more humid weather with lots of rain! The wettest month is usually October, whilst in January and February, there is normally no rain at all!
When’s the best time to visit Costa Rica?
If you want the hottest weather, we'd recommend visiting during the dry season, which runs from mid-November to April when temperatures sit around 28°C.
However, if you want fewer crowds and cheaper prices May to mid-November is a great time visit too as this is Costa Rica’s ‘green’ season. This is also the best time to visit Costa Rica's rainforests.
Is there a tipping culture in Costa Rica?
We'd recommend tipping around 10% of the bill at restaurants and bars when you have had great service. This isn't essential but it is a nice gesture. Your guide will be able to advise you more on tipping customs when you are exploring the country.
Are there ATMS in Costa Rica?
ATMs are usually easy to find in cities and towns across Costa Rica. We would recommend bringing cash with you incase you cannot access an ATM in more rural areas. We'd recommend getting a travel card before you leave for your trip (Monzo and Revolut are great options.) Your Tru Leader will be able to help you with finding the best atms with the lowest charges.
Is the tap water in Costa Rica safe to drink?
Tap water is not always safe to drink in Costa Rica, so we'd recommend sticking to bottled or filtered water.
Is Costa Rica safe to visit?
Yes! Costa Rica has made alot of progress in terms of safety; however, it is important to be aware of petty crimes and tourist scams in the cities. Your Tru Leader will be on hand for any questions you might have on safety whilst in Costa Rica!
