THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

Generally, November to April is the driest and most comfortable period across the country. The Yucatán and Caribbean coast are brilliant November to May before hurricane season. Mexico City is great year-round!

TRANSPORT

Getting around Mexico is easy and affordable. In cities, Uber is widely available and one of the safest options. On our tours, all transport is arranged so you can just sit back and enjoy Mexico in all its glory!

CUISINE & FOOD

Mexican food is one of the greatest cuisines in the world. Tacos al pastor, fresh guacamole, enchiladas and ceviche. Skip the tourist restaurants and find a local market or taqueria instead, and a fresh margarita (or two) is completely non-negotiable!

VISA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Many nationalities can enter Mexico visa-free for up to 180 days. Entry requirements vary by passport, so always check your government's official travel website before you go.

Do I need a visa to visit Mexico?

Visa requirements often change, and it is always worth checking your local government website for the most up-to-date information.    

What vaccinations are required for Mexico?

We always recommend speaking to your local doctors. We're not medically trained, so we cannot give official advice on the vaccines you need/don't need.

What’s the weather like in Mexico?

Mexico has a tropical climate and the temperature sits at around 20 to 33°C throughout the year. The wet season runs from June to November and the dry season tends to fall between December and May.

When’s the best time to visit Mexico?

December to April is a great time visit Mexico! This is during the dry season and you are most likely to get blue skies and temperatures of around 24°C.

Is there a tipping culture in Mexico?

We'd recommend tipping around 10% of the bill at restaurants and bars when you have had great service. This isn't essential but it is a nice gesture. Your guide will be able to advise you more on tipping customs when you are exploring the country.

Are there ATMS in Mexico?

ATMs are usually easy to find in cities and towns across Mexico. We would recommend bringing cash with you incase you cannot access an ATM in more rural areas. We'd recommend getting a travel card before you leave for your trip (Monzo and Revolut are great options.) Your Tru Leader will be able to help you with finding the best atms with the lowest charges.

Is the tap water in Mexico safe to drink?

Tap water is not always safe to drink in Mexico so we'd recommend sticking to bottled or filtered water.

Is Mexico safe to visit?

Yes! Mexico has made alot of progress in terms of safety, however, it is important to be aware of petty crimes and tourist scams in the cities. Your Tru Leader will be on hand for any questions you might have on safety whilst in Mexico!

What language is spoken in Mexico?

Spanish is the language most commonly spoken in Mexico (around 90% of the population.)
