BRAZIL TRAVEL ADVICE

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT

Brazil is an enormous country, and the weather varies region to region massively! Generally, April to October is a great time to visit, with drier weather across much of the country and perfect for Rio. Carnival happens in February/March and is an absolute bucket list experience (just book everything well in advance!)

TRANSPORT

In cities, Uber is reliable and one of the safest options. On our tours, all transport between destinations is sorted so you can focus on the experience!

CUISINE & FOOD

Churrasco (Brazilian BBQ) at a rodizio restaurant is a must, the endless parade of grilled meats is something else. Caipirinha is the national cocktail and you HAVE to have one!

VISA ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Brazil has opened visa-free access for many nationalities in recent years, but requirements still vary. Some nationalities need a visa in advance. Always check with your government's official travel website before you travel.

We'd recommend tipping around 10% of the bill at restaurants and bars when you have had great service. This isn't essential but it is a nice gesture. Your guide will be able to advise you more on tipping customs when you are exploring the country.

Are there ATMS in Brazil?

ATMs are usually easy to find in cities and towns across Brazil. We would recommend bringing cash with you in case you cannot access an ATM in more rural areas. We'd recommend getting a travel card before you leave for your trip (Monzo and Revolut are great options.) Your Tru Leader will be able to help you with finding the best ATMs with the lowest charges.

Is the tap water in Brazil safe to drink?

Tap water is not always safe to drink in Brazil so we'd recommend sticking to bottled or filtered water.
