Do I need a visa to visit Italy?
Visa requirements often change and it is always worth checking your local government website for the most up-to-date information.
What vaccinations are required for Italy?
There are no mandatory vaccinations for most travellers. We always recommend speaking to your local doctors. We're not medically trained, so we can't give official advice on vaccines you need/don't need.
Whatās the weather like in Italy?
Italy's weather is incredible from April-September! We're talking long, sunny, hot days perfect for city exploring and aperols in the sun.
Whenās the best time to visit Italy?
There is no bad time to visit Italy, but we'd say visiting between April and September will give you the best experience! July and August tend to be the busiest months to visit, and this is also when the heat peaks, so if this isn't for you, we'd suggest going early or later in the season.
Are there ATMS in Italy?
Youāll have no problem finding ATMs (ābankomats') in cities and towns across Italy. We'd recommend getting a a travel card before you leave for your trip (Monzo and Revolut are great options.) Your Tru Leader will be able to help you with finding the best atms with the lowest charges. You should also carry cash with you (in Euros) if youāre in rural areas, in case of emergency or if you canāt access an ATM.
Is the tap water in Italy safe to drink?
Tap water is largely okay to drink in major cities like Rome. In more rural areas, the quality may be less reliable so it is always best to check with your guide and even consider sticking to bottled water to be safe!
Is Italy safe to visit?
Yes! Italy is very safe to visit. As with anywhere, we'd always recommend being aware of your surroundings and being alert to petty crimes and tourist scams in busy areas.
Is there a tipping culture in Italy?
We'd recommend tipping around 10% of the bill at resturants and bars. This isn't essential but it is a nice gesture. Your guide will be able to advise you more on tipping customs when you are exploring the country.
