Itinerary
welcome to morocco!
Welcome to the home of Tagines and a place famous for its crazy markets and breathtaking views. Once you arrive at your hotel, you'll have the day to roam, meet with the group and set off to discover your first taste of Morocco. In the evening, you'll all meet as a group, begin to get to know each other and start to work out who in the group is the best photographer!
exploring the souks of marrakech
Morning TruTravellers! It's our first full day as a group and we are visiting Marrakech's hotspots with our local guide! We'll start at Jardin Majorelle which is an Instagrammers dream. It was created in 1922 and more recently in 1980 it was bought by Yves Saint Laurent who wanted to save it from being turned into a hotel. Thank goodness he did because it really is a special place to visit! Once we've had a group photo in all the iconic spots we'll head over to Jemaa el-Fna, the main square in Marrakech. You'll have seen photos of this place with all its bustling market stalls. Markets in Morocco are unlike anywhere else so dust off your haggling skills...let's go shopping. In the evening, we will learn how to make the traditional cuisine at a local cooking class. Whether you have been desperate to know how to make the perfect tagine or you want to find out the secret to Chermoula, this is your chance to find out!
rural exploring
Today is a big travel day, so stock up on snacks (Oreos at the ready!) The views on this journey will be INSANE! We'll pass through loads of incredible valleys and stop off at some amazing viewpoints, too. The final stop of the day will be in the Monkey Fingers Valley - it's a really amazing spot to finish the journey with! Once we arrive at Boumalne Dades, we'll soak in the views, drop off our bags in the epic rooms and then head down for a group dinner at our hotel!
todra gorge-ous
First up today, we're heading to Todra Gorge, one of Morocco's must-see areas. It’s like something out of Indiana Jones, although luckily for us, there’ll be no giant boulder chasing us today…well, not one that we know of, at least... After we've explored the Gorge, we're heading to our next destination - Merzouga. This is what we've all been waiting for - we're heading to the desert! This afternoon we've got some time to chill. Your tour guide will have plenty of suggestions, so whether you want to do some exploring on foot or just want to relax closer to the hotel, you'll be spoilt for choice. Luckily for us, the Sahara desert is only a short walk away...we're talking literally only a couple of minutes - get ready for a dreamy desert sunset!
sandboarding and desert glamping
First up, we will have a chilled morning, have a lie-in, have a swim and take the day at a slower pace! Then, chakras at the ready for an epic sandboarding experience in the heart of the desert. Want to know the best part of today? Well, it's got to be our sleepover on the sand dunes - and we're getting there via Camel (beats Uber any day!) We'll head over to the campsite, meet the locals who are taking us in for the night and settle into our temporary, magical home! After a super busy and exciting day, we’ll get ready for an evening of good food, drumming (of course...) and lots of star-gazing. Trust us - you have NEVER seen stars like these!
Remember to pack an overnight bag for our evening in the desert! You won't need much, just the bare essentials and some spare clothes for the morning :)
travel day to ait ben haddou
Did you sleep well? Of course you did! After a night in the desert, we’ll have a stunning morning watching the sunrise and pinching ourselves cause surely this isn't real life!? What could be better than getting back to basics with a night in the desert, surrounded by amazing people and even better views? Sadly, though, we can't stay here forever, so we'll move on to our next stop: Ait Ben Haddou. It's an iconic landscape that has been used in countless famous films and series such as Game of Thrones, so get your cameras at the ready for some epic photos tomorrow...Talking of films, on the way, we'll stop at a film set museum on the way to explore some of the sets from some of the biggest movies of all time!
ait ben haddou and the atlas mountains
Today is an early start as we’re off to the heart of Ait Ben Haddou! This fortified village has been used as a filming location for Game Of Thrones, The Mummy and Gladiator. A great place to spend an hour getting lost amongst the pretty alleys and castle-like buildings. Then we're off to our next epic location. We'll arrive in Imlil in the afternoon and soak in the views and the sun from our amazing hotel!
waterfall hike and back to marrakech
We’re going back to where it all began! We’ll have a chilled morning before travelling back to Marrakech.
marrakech exploring
Whether you have your eye on some shopping in the medina, a trip to the spa, or you just want to unwind on a rooftop overlooking all the wonderful chaos, today is up to you! Your group will all meet in the evening, and you'll get a rundown of the second half of this amazing tour!
let's head to the coast
Morning! We're up bright and early to head over to Rabat! It's the capital of Morocco, and it's a beautiful city on the coastline. We'll arrive here around midday, and we'll spend the day learning all about the local culture and ticking off the hotspots. We'll also visit Rabat's UNESCO World Heritage site, Kasbah of the Udayas. This spot is a photographer's dream with the white and blue architecture and winding streets leading to the cutest cafes and restaurants.
rabat to tangier
This morning we are taking the fast train to the coastal town of Tangier. We'll get up early to make the most of our time here. This spot on the coastline feels worlds away from where we started on day 1. We'll visit the Heraclus Cave, which, as legend has it, is where Hercules rested after his "twelve labours". Not only does this cave have connections to our favourite "zero to hero star", it also has an opening that looks exactly like the continent of Africa, which has to be seen to be believed! After this, we'll head out for a Kasbah Tour, our guide will fill us in on all the local history and take us to an amazing viewpoint where we'll get to see the Strait of Gibraltar!
heading to the blue city
This morning, we’re leaving the coast behind and making our way inland to one of Morocco’s most iconic destinations, Chefchaouen. As soon as we arrive, you’ll see why this place is on every traveller’s bucket list… It’s blue-tiful.
We're headed straight out for a walking tour of the city. Our local guide will lead us through the winding, maze-like streets painted in every shade of blue you can imagine. You’ll learn how this tradition began, discover hidden gems, and stop by some of the best photo spots in town.
We’ll finish our tour in the heart of the medina, where you’ll have free time to explore, shop, or grab a mint tea while watching the world go by.
chefchaouen exploring
Today we've got a full day in the Blue Pearl! Today is all about doing Chefchaouen in your own way. Want to wander the dreamy blue streets? Go for it. Want to try a local workshop, shop for handmade souvenirs, or just chill with a mint tea while watching the world drift by? You can do that too! Later this afternoon, we’ll meet back up and head over to the best sunset spot in town. The views are 10/10 up here, the whole blue city spread out below - the perfect way to end our time in Chefchaouen.
volubilis and fez
We’re hitting the road today and making our way to the cultural capital of Morocco: Fes! But first, we’ve got a super cool stop lined up. We’ll visit Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa. Much better than a motorway service! After a couple of hours learning the history and exploring this awesome place, we’ll jump back on the road and continue on to Fes, a city packed with history, colours, chaos, and the biggest medina you’ll ever see.
the best of fez
Today we've got a full day in Fez! Trust us, this city does not do things by halves. We'll explore the medina’s tiny alleyways and enjoy this UNESCO World Heritage Site! Did you know it is one of the largest car-free spots in the world! In the afternoon, we'll visit Madrasa Bou Inania. Full of intricate carvings and amazing architecture, this is a must-visit! We’ll also swing by the famous Nejjarine Fountain in the middle of the medina.
Afterwards, we’ll explore the pottery quarter, pop into a weaving cooperative to watch beautiful fabrics come to life, and of course…we have to visit the iconic tanneries. IYKYK!
casablanca's calling!
Today, we swap the tiny alleys of Fes for the modern buzz of Casablanca. It's Morocco’s biggest city, and first up, we’re heading to the Hassan II Mosque. This is one of the largest mosques in the world, and being right next to the ocean, it's just magical! Afterwards, we’ll stroll along the Corniche, Casablanca’s seaside front and visit the Mohammed V Square. To finish off the day, we’ll explore the Houbous Quarter, with its traditional markets, colourful streets, and bustling cafes. It's the perfect place to spend our final evening together after an amazing time exploring the north of this incredible city.
chilled checkout
All good things must come to an end! Today is checkout day, and it’s your chance to soak up a few final sights, grab that last-minute souvenir, or enjoy one last cup of mint tea before we say goodbye to this incredible country.
