Thailand Island Hopper

Welcome to Bangkok, a city with as much history as it has traffic, more sticky rice than you can imagine and some of the kindest people you'll ever meet. The evening is the real start of the trip: we head out to the famous Khao San Road to get to know your group over delicious food and possibly a few drinks.

After breakfast, we board a traditional boat through Bangkok's back canals and along the Chao Phraya River. Our driver drops us at Wat Arun, where we climb the steps for city views; then we visit Wat Pho, one of Bangkok's most prestigious temples and Thailand's first university, plus a tuk-tuk ride. Tonight: rooftop cocktails or buckets, your call.

Introductions done, culture soaked up, nightlife tested. After breakfast, we treat you to a traditional Thai massage to unwind after a big couple of days, and get creative at the Baang Lam Phu Project eco-workshop. This afternoon we board the overnight train south, limbered up and ready to wake up near Khao Sok National Park.

Picture low clouds drifting over limestone mountains around an emerald green lake. That's home tonight: a floating resort straight out of Jurassic Park. After lunch, the afternoon is free to relax by the lake, float about with a beer, read a book or explore by kayak. After sundown, we tuck into a Thai buffet dinner in the floating restaurant.

After breakfast, we head for Bottle Beach, one of our favourite beaches in the world. It's only reachable by boat, so we pretty much have it to ourselves. Play volleyball, swim, kayak, hike to the viewpoint or hang out with the friendly resort dogs. In the evening, dinner on the beach, cocktails by the campfire and our own private fire show.

Wake to the sound of waves breaking on the beach. The morning is yours: sleep in, enjoy the sand, trek through the jungle or head up to the Bottle Beach viewpoint and recharge in idyllic surroundings. In the afternoon, we head to a local gym for an intro lesson in the ancient art of Muay Thai, Thailand's national sport.

Today we sail around the coast of Koh Phangan, stopping at a small island offshore for some beach shenanigans and at a snorkelling spot to check out the sea life and cool down. Lunch is on board. We're back on land around sunset, just in time to freshen up for dinner and drinks on our last night here.

Goodbye Koh Phangan, hello Koh Tao. We take the ferry to its pretty little neighbour, which, until recently, was mostly coconut farms and fishing villages, and is still bursting with nature. People come for the diving, beaches and laid-back lifestyle. We check into our hotel near Sairee Beach, lined with little restaurants, beach bars and plenty of dive schools.

Today we find out what all the fuss is about: Koh Tao's famous snorkelling. We also visit the beautiful island of Koh Nang Yuan, with lunch included. Prefer working on your tan on deck? That's fine too. In the evening, join the group for dinner at one of the island's best restaurants and drinks at the little bars along Sairee Beach.

It's a travel day, but a good one: a speedboat ride across the water to Phi Phi, arriving in the afternoon. Once we've checked in, you've got some free time in the early evening, with the Phi Phi Viewpoint on the cards, before we meet up for a group dinner. Phi Phi evenings blend chilled island vibes and party vibes.

After a chilled morning we head to Maya Bay, made famous by the film The Beach. We snorkel, visit the Viking Cave and Monkey Beach (yes, there really are monkeys) and have lunch on the boat. To finish, we watch the sun set from the deck. One of those days you'll still be talking about years from now.

First up, an optional morning hike to Phi Phi's best viewpoint, the ultimate way to end our time here and the ultimate Thailand photo. Then we're off to Phuket, a crazy island you have to experience once. The afternoon is free to chill and explore before our last big night out together on Patong's Bangla Road.
