Apart from the epic experiences & perfect profile pictures, there is so much more to travel than meets the eye. Here are some of the incredible things you learn when you travel...
#1.To be you;
As cliché as it sounds, the first and most important thing you will learn when you travel, is to be you. Packing up your bags and going into the unknown is daunting, yet the most rewarding thing you will ever do. So ignore the latest gossip on social media, as half the time it is not real life anyway! Be yourself, meet incredible people and live each day as it comes.
#2. Try something new;
When you travel, every day is full of unexpected events. Whether it’s meeting the locals and learning their language or climbing to the top of a mountain. That feeling of doing something new and making awesome memories is the best feeling in the world, right? And remember... always expect the unexpected, as they say!
#3. Make friends with strangers;
You will never feel alone when you travel. We have all probably arrived at a hostel and thought ‘what the hell am I doing here?’ But as soon as you get the nervous hello out of the way and you get the round in, before you know it you will be sat toasting the world and giggly away with your lifelong friends.
One of the awesome things about being in a group tour when you travel is that you have the mixture of solo travelling yet meeting like-minded people. Before you know it you will all become one big happy family.
#4. Step out-side your comfort zone;
Although it’s easier said than done, there is no better time (or place) than to step outside of your comfort zone. Now, we don’t mean go and do the world’s biggest bungee jump or get your best friends initials tattooed on ya bum. Just make the most of each day and what experience it brings. Try the local food, spend a day getting lost in the city and take a dive into the deep blue ocean.
#5. To appreciate other cultures;
Travelling can grow you as a person in so many ways, yet it also opens your eyes to this crazy world. From historical wonders of the world to volunteering / taking care of children in schools. It can be the little things that we don’t think about that can be so different in the third world. Learning about about other cultures not only makes you appreciate them, it makes you realise how lucky you are and to appreciate everything that you have.
#6. Take it all in…
Last but not least, take it all in. Enjoy it. And just appreciate it. Remember how lucky you are to be part of this beautiful world and to experience the world other people live in. Have a think about how hard you worked to save your pennies for your trip and make sure you make those lifelong & well deserved memories.
So now you can understand why we say... #JustGo ;)
